Kunaka
Waging Justice for Women Fellow
Sheryl Kunaka is serving her fellowship with the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria. Her expertise spans refugee rights and international refugee law, and she has actively contributed to legal and advocacy work through NGOs that support women and marginalized communities. Sheryl previously served as a legal fellow with the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
Sheryl holds an LLB and LLM (in Human Rights Law) from the University of Cape Town, an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford, and is currently pursuing a DPhil in International Refugee Law at the University of Cape Town.
Born in Zimbabwe and raised in South Africa, Sheryl’s personal journey has fueled her dedication to migrant communities and their fight for justice. Through her fellowship with the Centre for Human Rights, she aspires to drive impactful advocacy and litigation focused on safeguarding the rights of women and girls, particularly those who are migrants.
