Waging Justice for Women Fellow

Rolanda Mariama Kondeh is a Sierra Leonean lawyer serving her fellowship with AdvocAid. She earned her Bachelor of Laws from Fourah Bay College and completed her professional training at the Sierra Leone Law School before being called to the Sierra Leone Bar in 2023.

From the onset of her legal career, she has centered her work on defending the rights of women and children. As Duty Counsel under the Sierra Leone Bar Association Dems Juvenile Project, she provided pro bono representation to juveniles in conflict with the law, earning formal recognition for her impactful advocacy.

Her expertise spans gender justice, criminal justice reform and women’s empowerment. She is a member of L.A.W.Y.E.R.S, where she offers legal support to women and girls facing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and other rights violations. Rolanda has authored articles on gender justice contributing to national conversations on reform. She is also deeply invested in mentoring the next generation of female lawyers in Sierra Leone. In 2024, Rolanda co-led the GEAR Project, contributing to Sierra Leone’s first gender-sensitive judicial human resource policy.

Through the fellowship, she seeks to refine her strategic litigation and policy advocacy skills to advance stronger, more meaningful protections for women within the justice system.
