Waging Justice for Women Fellow

Peteryna J. Jah-Kanneh is currently serving her fellowship with the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL). Though specializing in corporate law, Peteryna has availed herself to provide legal representation for women ranging from domestic issues, custody of children, and provision of financial support.

Peteryna received her LLB degree from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law at the University of Liberia. She views the fellowship as an opportunity to meet with women’s rights organizations and share experiences with fellows from other countries, learning about how their laws protect women, and the challenges faced locally and globally.

Peteryna hopes to work with AFELL to inform and support deliberations and policymaking for strategic litigation for the empowerment of women. She believes that this path is a key priority for reformation of some laws which are not favorable for women in modern day realities. Peteryna believes that her fight, along with others can make a positive change in Liberia’s society.
