Waging Justice for Women Fellow

Lusayo Mulaga is serving her fellowship with the Women Lawyers Association Malawi, stepping into this role with a strong commitment to advancing justice for women and marginalized communities. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malawi, where her passion for human rights first took root.

Her journey has been shaped by impactful work as a legal intern at CHREAA Malawi and by her active involvement in the University of Malawi Gender Justice Clinic and the Environmental Justice and Sustainability Clinic. These experiences exposed her to the lived realities of injustice across Malawi and strengthened her resolve to pursue a career grounded in human rights, litigation, and advocacy.

Lusayo is also a dedicated researcher and writer, earning a special mention in the 2024 Lex-Lead Essay Competition—an achievement that reflects her diligence and growing scholarly voice. Her interactions with gender-based violence survivors, prisoners, and underserved communities have deepened her belief in the power of legal empowerment and people-centered justice.

As she begins her fellowship, Lusayo is eager to grow her litigation, research, and advocacy skills while building meaningful networks. Her vision is clear: to use the law as a tool that uplifts, protects, and restores dignity to those who need it most.
