Waging Justice for Women Fellow
Francess Gegbai is serving her fellowship with AdvocAid. Frances specializes in leadership, gender justice and equality for women and girls, and advocating for the rights of vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities and youths.
Francess holds a Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College, completed her Bar at the Sierra Leone Law School, and also holds a certificate in Leadership from the Soul of Africa Youth Leadership (SoAYL). Her honors thesis examined the Sierra Leone police’s powers of arrest, specifically in riotous situations, and how the rights of citizens — especially women and girls — have been upheld or violated.
Francess’s commitment to justice for women and girls is fueled by her own experiences with injustice and discrimination, as well as those she has witnessed affecting other women. She is also driven by her quest to serve and to give back to her society.
