Waging Justice for Women Fellow
Fatoumatta Bintou Sanyang is serving her fellowship with Female Lawyers Association of The Gambia (FLAG). As an active member of FLAG’s Legal Aid Clinic, Fatoumatta has assisted several women and girls fight for their legal rights in The Gambia’s courts. Over the years, she has built expertise in laws affecting women and children’s rights. She has also worked as an Associate at a corporate firm whilst regularly undertaking pro bono work.
Fatoumatta graduated from the University of Bristol with an LLB Honours and completed the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), gaining admission to the Bar of England & Wales and The Gambia Bar shortly thereafter.
Fatoumatta hopes this fellowship will allow her more opportunities and resources to fight for women and girls, while also expanding her network with like-minded women across Africa and beyond.
