Waging Justice for Women Fellow
Lauretta T. Mammah is serving her fellowship with the Association Female Lawyers of Liberia (AFELL). Through her work, Lauretta has passionately advocated for the rights of indigent individuals—particularly women and girls—who often lack access to justice in a male-dominated legal system. At AFELL’s Legal Aid Clinic, she provides free legal aid, mediation services, and representation for survivors of gender-based violence, property disputes, and other civil matters. Her commitment to justice is grounded in both her academic and professional journey.
Lauretta earned a degree in Public Administration from the African Methodist Episcopal University before pursuing legal studies at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree.
Lauretta’s involvement with the Fellowship represents the fulfillment of a long-standing dream—to be a voice for the voiceless and to create a path to justice for women who have little or no hope. For her, the fellowship is more than a title; it is a platform for real change. It has empowered her to bring hope and healing to vulnerable communities, and to advocate for systemic legal reforms that uplift women and girls across Liberia. Lauretta remains deeply committed to advancing gender equality through meaningful legal support, education, and advocacy—continuing to use the law as a powerful tool for transformation and justice.
