Martin Scheinin

He formerly served as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee, responsible for evaluating state compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms While Countering Terrorism. Professor Scheinin also headed the International Association of Constitutional Law from 2010-2014 and chaired the International Law Association’s Committee on Human Rights Law and Practice from 1997-2008.
