Asser Khattab is a Media and Communications Associate at the Clooney Foundation for Justice. He previously worked as a journalist in the Middle East, reporting on Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, for various international media outlets including The Washington Post, the Financial Times, and the Spanish News Agency (EFE). In early 2021, a year after he moved from Beirut to Paris, he decided no longer to work in news reporting and employ the skills he had acquired in working for human rights organizations while occasionally publishing essays on a variety of topics. He was the Research and Communications Officer for the International Commission of Jurists’ MENA programme and wrote a biweekly newsletter on the media for New Lines Magazine until he joined CFJ in August 2022. He speaks Arabic, English, French, German, and Italian.
