On Friday, August 24th Hazim Avdal, who came to the United States in 2017 as a refugee, participated in the Global Conflict | The Human Impact conference hosted by The University of Chicago and Queen’s University Belfast. Hazim joined conference attendees through a video message, sharing his own experience as a victim of violent conflict.
With the support of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, Hazim just finished his first year at the University of Chicago, where he was named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence.
